West Chester University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the position of Integrations Specialist, within the Division of Information Services & Technology. The Division of Information Services & Technology serves a campus community of over 17,000 students and 1,800 employees.


The Integrations Specialist position reports to the LMS Administrator within the EdTech & User Services department and is responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting instructional software. This role provides development, customization and enhancement of the University's Learning Management System, Brightspace by D2L and various instructional technologies. The primary responsibilities and duties include:


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Works with the LMS Administrator and collaborates with LMS Advisory Committee to implement new and update existing instructional software systems.

  • Manages project lifecycle, including gathering requirements, defining scope, designing and/or implementing applications, conducting tests, and writing documentation.

  • Implements, configures, and maintains APIs, client libraries, and tools that create valuable, integrated solutions for the campus community.

  • Collaborates with SIS developers to expand upon the functionality and synchronization between the SIS (PeopleSoft) and the LMS.

  • Configures and troubleshoots LMS third party systems and integrations including web conferencing and media technologies such as Zoom, Kaltura, and MediaSite.

  • Collaborates with the PASSHE LMS Admins and Brightspace developer community.

  • Extracts, sorts, and summarizes selected data via BI reporting and querying software.

  • Serves as backup to the LMS Administrator and assists with recommendations for tools/upgrades and improvement of LMS architecture.

  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of one-two years of relevant experience.

  • Strong understanding of programming logic and data analytics/reporting.

  • Demonstrated experience with browser-side frameworks and server-side languages.

  • Deep functional knowledge or experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP).

  • Strong attention to detail/information accuracy, analytical, technical and organizational skills with the ability to work on deadline.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment and diplomacy required to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of people, including faculty, staff, students, colleagues, and vendors, both individually and in groups.

  • Ability to work well in a multi-tier team environment.

  • Experience working with a culturally inclusive workforce and constituency.

  • Self-starter with strong project management skills who takes initiative to seek out knowledge and resolution to problems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Advanced understanding and familiarity with Learning Management Systems.

  • Student Information System (SIS) integration experience.

  • Development experience with HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript/Node.js, jQuery, PHP, Python, git/GitHub, and APIs.

  • Experience developing applications to conform to web accessibility standards.

  • Experience working in a higher education environment.

  • A history of open source contributions.
